The Thor: Ragnarok trailer has shown Hela, the goddess of Death, as the may antagonist for the upcoming film, but Marvelites at San Diego Comic-Con in 2016 got a sneak peek at some of the other figures popping up in the film. Thanks to the new line of Funko Pop! figures pegged to the next Marvel Cinematic Universe film, the rest of us can get a feel for one of them: the fire demon Surtur.

Surtur wields a sword of fire as one of the most dangerous elemental beings Asgard has ever faced. He even played a part in the Ragnarok comic book arc, from which the film takes inspiration. In the first scene of the movie's trailer, Thor dangles from a long chain above a fiery pit. Perhaps this is where Surtur encounters the viking Avenger.

It’s unclear how much a presence Surtur will play in Thor: Ragnarok, especially since Hela will be a particularly nasty thorn in everyone’s side. Plus, there’s the whole situation with Hulk fighting in the gladiator trenches of Sakaar under the eye of Jeff Goldblum’s The Grandmaster. Guess' we'll have to wait and see.
